How To: Install and access Appcloud on your desktop or tablet

Appcloud is a virtual application which allows you to access selected Northeastern-licensed applications from a Windows 10 desktop when you are anywhere you can connect to the Internet using a Windows, Mac, Android or iOS device.

In order to use Appcloud you need:

  • To install a software component on your device.  You can download this software from myNEU or from https:/www.Workspot.com/godownload/, selecting the download appropriate to your operating system.
  • To connect to the Internet so your local access point can reach the remote site where the applications reside.
  • To connect to the GlobalProtect VPN if you are outside the Northeastern's networks. The VPN software is available free for the Northeastern community. Go to https://vpn.northeastern.edu. You will need to use the multi-factor authentication process to access the VPN.
  • To have your myNEU username and password.

To install Appcloud:

NOTE: If Symantec prompts you for permission to allow this installation to complete, select allow.

  • Provide your Northeastern email address when prompted.
  • Appcloud will send you an email with the confirmation code.
  • Create your custom pass key which must be longer than 4 digits.

NOTE: This pass key is unique for your computer. If you forget this number, you will need to reinstall the Appcloud client again on your computer to generate a new key. ITS does not have any way to recover lost pass keys for you.

  • Appcloud will become an icon on your desktop.
  • To access Appcloud, click on the icon and enter your pass key (the number you created during installation).
  • Select the application you wish to use.

NOTE: If the application you want to use is not on the desktop, click the AppCloud Desktop.  Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner to see an alphabetical list of all available applications.
