What is VDI?
VDI stands for virtual desktop infrastructure and it is a virtualization technology that hosts a desktop operating system on a centralized server in a data center. VDI is a variation on the client-server computing model, sometimes referred to as server-based computing. The term was coined by VMware.
Introduction to Khoury VDI
This document is an overview of VMware Horizon Client software for Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android, and Linux and how it pertains to the virtual lab desktops hosted by the Khoury Systems group.
These virtual lab desktops are functionally identical to the lab desktops in WVH, except that they do not take up physical space, and can be accessed from anywhere on campus, or off campus using the Northeastern ITS VPN client.
